Google Base is Now Available!

Finally, you can now login to Google Base. I am playing around with it, and will report my findings here.

Online Dating with Google Base

Dave Evans at Corante has suggested the possible use of Google Base as an online dating service.

"Using the bulk upload function (think of GoogleBase as a giant public database), a free dating site could upload all their profiles, leverage the benefits of Google traffic, Adwords revenue, tagging, powerful search and all of the other Google Services, from GoogleMaps to Froogle."

Google Base Still Inaccessible as of November 1, 2005

We are still waiting for the official public Beta release of Google Base. The buzz about it at different blogs has slowed down, but there are still speculations on different uses you can get out of Google Base.

Philipp at Google Blogoscoped has posted a comprehensive list of screenshots of Google Base. His screenshots are annotated with interesting comments.

The comments that refers to "Payment" and Google Maps have led many to believe that Google Base to be an eBay/ Craiglist killer because the Payment feature would allow you to collect payment on an item that you sell and the Maps feature would allow prospective buyers where to pick up their purchases.
